FW Dumpster Rental › Concrete & Dirt Disposal

Concrete, Brick & Dirt Dumpster Rental in Fort Wayne

Concrete breaks every rule of normal dumpster rental: a small volume can weigh more than a truck may legally haul. FW Dumpster Rental rents dedicated heavy-material containers in Fort Wayne — small boxes, honest weight math, and clean loads routed as recyclable fill instead of landfill weight.

Driveway and patio tear-outs, sidewalk and slab removal, brick and block work, and excavation spoils all land here.

The half-fill rule, and why

Heavy material goes only in the 10-yard or 15-yard, filled no more than half full. A cubic yard of broken concrete weighs roughly 2,000–2,500 lb, so a half-full 10-yard is already near the legal hauling limit. Fill lines are marked by the load, not the ruler: if the pile is bigger, take a second small box — two legal loads cost less than one overweight refusal at the worst moment.

Keep it clean, save the load

A box of clean concrete, brick or dirt — no trash, no lumber, no household debris — can be routed as recyclable fill, which is better disposal economics and better practice. The moment general trash mixes in, the whole load becomes landfill debris. If your project makes both (a patio tear-out plus a garage cleanout), we will pair a heavy box with a regular one and keep the streams separate.

  • Concrete, brick, block and stone: 10/15-yard, half full
  • Clean dirt and sod: small boxes; wet soil weighs far more than dry
  • Asphalt chunks: heavy box rules apply
  • Never mix hazardous material, treated lumber dust loads are fine as general debris

Placement for heavy boxes

Heavy containers go on the firmest ground available — concrete or thick gravel — as close to the work as the truck can reach. A loaded heavy box should not sit on soft asphalt in summer or on lawn after rain. Wheelbarrow distance is the real planning number: every extra ten feet, multiplied by forty trips, is an hour. We will talk placement through on the booking call.

Questions

How much concrete fits in a 10-yard dumpster?

About 4–5 cubic yards of broken concrete, filled to the halfway line — roughly a standard residential driveway section or a patio. Thickness matters: 6-inch commercial slab fills the weight limit faster than 4-inch residential.

Can I mix dirt with concrete?

Dirt and concrete together are still a heavy load and allowed in the small boxes, half full. What breaks a 'clean' load is trash, wood or household debris mixed in.

What if my project has more concrete than one box?

We schedule a swap: the full heavy box leaves and an empty one lands on the same visit where possible, so the breaker never waits.
